Brandon Gibbs asks: In the reviews of Rocket Red for the DC subscription, he appears to be much larger in comparison to a standard figure than he has been to regular characters in virtually all his comic appearances. Also, the particular RR design seems to be between the original JLI Dmitri version most people favor and the current DCnU version. Can you talk a little about the design choices for Rocket Red so fans will understand why these elements were chosen?
This was completely a choice from the Horsemen and Mattel design in order to maximize shared parts and deliver a unique figure.
Troy asks: Considering the key role Emiliano Santalucia played in creating the Classics line for MOTU, would it be possible to get some kind of credit for him on the packaging, such as ‘Created by Emiliano Santalucia’ – even if it is only on the white mailers under the MOTU logo.
While he created some amazing art for the 2002 DVDs, comics and Staction line, Emilino played absolutely no part whatsoever in the creation of MOTUC at Mattel. He is a talented artist and a big MOTU fan and an all around swell guy, but he did not work on the MOTUC line or have any direct influence on it at any point.
Vito asks: Seeing as how Subscriptions sales are really whats keeping the line going….as you have stated before, well…how does Mattel expect to keep the lines going in this same fashion….and hope to bring on more NEW collector’s and sell more subscriptions, when you are …..a) not re-issuing any new figures ….and b) going through all the CS stock…..with also no plans to reissue any past figures? With past figures going online between $50 – $150, why would anyone hop on board now, almost 100 figures into the MOTU Classics series? Faker was re-issued recently…to think that we will never get an axe and shield for him….well it just hurts.
We keep key characters like He-Man and Skeletor on sale at all times specifically for new customers wanting to start buying in! Reissues on other figures have proven to not be popular enough to keep this going beyond the main characters.
Vito asks: Do you have anything planned for the MOTUC 100th figure? And when adding to 100 figures, would you include the Toys R Us figures? Or would you count them by package i.e…..the Star Sisters count as 1?
Due to the ever changing logistics of figures and shipping delays it is just not possible to pin point exactly which will be the 100th fig. But it should be soon! How cool!
Vito asks: Have we gone through all the CS stock for Roboto, King Randor, Zodak, Shadow Beast and the 2 Weapon packs? I kinda don’t wanna sit here hoping you will release them at a reasonable price again, if you never intend too.
Sorry, we can’t comment on that,. We can say some figures are 100% sold out, others have very limited stock held for upcoming scheduled resales.
That’s it for this round of Ask Mattel. Join us again on August 15th!

With us getting most of the main characters in motuc coupled with the slowdown in subscription sales is there any chance you will involve more 200x styled characters post 2013? I get the nostalgia for filmation but the 200x has such better character design.
YAY!!! my questions got answered….ok not really answered….but YAY!!!!!
Question choice was poor, and question 2 was just insulting. Vito, next time please ask questions that haven’t already been answered. #3 has been answered numerous times (Matty forums, facebook, he-man.org, you name it) and Faker does have an Orange Shield and Axe via the Weapons Pack and Battle Armor Faker. #4 again has been addressed numerous times. #5 has been asked in one form or another so many times and is always answered the same way. Mr Mint Condition, please choose questions more wisely next time.
I would have, but unfortunately those were literally the only questions I got.
Understandable then, my apologies. I’ll try to think of a good question for next time so I’m not just a trolling peanut gallery 🙂
