It’s that time again for Ask Mattel. If you’d like to ask Mattel a question about any of its brands, leave them as comments to this post. I’ll pick five out of the bunch to be answered on December 17th, 2012. All questions need to be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on November 30th, 2012.
What can the fans of CIE do now to ensure a subscription offering for 2014?
1) When is Mattel going to start featuring double jointed knees on it’s 6 inch line of action figures?
2) Can consumers expect any improvement in the distribution of the upcoming 6 inch line of action figures?
3) Is it possible to have a Fan Choice action figure(s)?
I’ve purchased many figures from Matty and have found a very similar trend. I’ve noticed that not much care goes to the packaging. For example, I purchased a combo pack MOTU He-Man and Battle Cat. When I finally received the package I noticed that Battle Cat’s box was damaged. I understand that this could have happened during transit but He-Man was perfectly fine. I would suspect that if the Post Office was to blame both figures would have been damaged. Also, I’ve read comments on your Facebook page where people have complained regarding similar situations.
My question is now that you know are aware of this how important is quality assurance to your company? As a collector I take great pride in the overal packaging of my figures.
And second, do you even read the comments that are posted on your Facebook page?
What has mattel done, if anything to bring shipping prices down? I recently ordered 5 figures and paid $5 ups shipping from dc collectibles.
Will the Fighting Foe Men have peg holes in their chests to support the different emblems, or are the emblems molded so they “snap on” the chests.
Will future Traveling Convention items be straight repaints of existing figures/parts, like Temple of Darkness Sorceress or Strobo, or can additional new tooling be considered, such as a character like Goat Man; requiring a new head and armor?
Toyguru has mentioned that fututre releases in MOTUC will showcase less/no concept figures. However, he did exclude Eldor, because he is a prototype – not a concept character. Where does this leave additional prototypes, like Evil Robot, Darius, Mara, and Crystoll?
Since we have already received Vikor and Demo-Man, is Red Beast (which was also featured in the new mini-comics) still on the table for a release in MOTUC, to finish out that concept trio, or has it been removed since he is a concept?
For the Four Horsemen: If the meteorbs were to be made in MOTUC, would you sculpt them so that they remain in a similar scale as the vintage version, or would they change in scale depending on the beast they represented? IE: The Rhinorb being the size of a rhino, Astro-Lion being the size of a lion, and all in scale with a standard figure.
Vixen was pictured on the packaging for the DCUC lines. Was she ever planned for a wave, and if so will we see her in either the 2013 or 2014 DCIE line up?
Why the focus on video game figures and nu52 JLA characters in the DC retail lines when there are plenty of worthwhile fan demanded characters you could do that would satisfy retailers request for A-listers and provide name recognition & neat visually looking figures for moms (such as the Super Powers decoes of Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman; Silver Age Bizarro; Balent 90s Catwoman, Bronze Age 70s Supergirl; GA Scarecrow, Myxyztplk pack in, Earth-2 GA Superman, E-2 GA Wonder Woman, Hook Hand Aquaman, Earth-2 Robin(both costumes), Tim Drake 1st 90s costume, 80s Firefly, The Mad Hatter pack in etc)?
