News – Hot Toys G.I. Joe Retaliation Figures Are Coming

Rumors have been circulating the Internet for a little bit that Hot Toys had secured the license to make 1/6th scale collectible figures based on the upcoming G.I. Joe Retaliation movie. Thanks to Toy News International, it seems that the rumors are true. Additional information about this line will be coming soon, but it seems that indeed we will be seeing G.I. Joe Retaliation Hot Toys figures. The most likely candidate for the first figure to be released is Roadblock played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Hopefully we will see several of the characters, including Snake-Eyes, Firefly, and Cobra Commander. These will no doubt be filled with tons of accessories and realistic detail.

News – Power Lords Are Returning Thanks to the Four Horsemen

Power Lords from Four Horsemen Toy DesignFor a few months now, there has been a teaser clock about the possibility of the Power Lords returning. Well now the “Doomsday Clock” has finally reached zero and has revealed that indeed the Power Lords will be making a return to collector’s shelves in 2013 courtesy of the Four Horsemen! For those who don’t know, the Power Lords was a toy property from the early 80’s. It hasn’t seen any new merchandising since then, but given that the Four Horsemen seem to love bringing back really old, really obscure toy lines, this should come as a shock to very few.

News – Back to the Future LEGO Set Coming in 2013

LEGO Back to the Future SetThat’s right, there is a Back to the Future LEGO set coming. It started on the LEGO Cuusoo website. It’s basically a site where you can create your own custom LEGO project, and if you get enough supporters, it can be made into a set and you can receive royalties. The LEGO Back to the Future set is now becoming a reality after reaching the mandatory 10,000 supporters, getting the green light from LEGO, and securing the licensing rights. The set is scheduled to be released in mid 2013 and will come with enough bricks to build the DeLorean time machine into the version from any of the three movies. What’s really cool is the folks who designed this set are donating the royalties they receive directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. See, now if you don’t buy this set, you’re hurting people. Way to go, jerk.

Check out all the photos of this set after the jump.

Review – Elasti-Girl – DC Universe Signature Collection, Mattel

DC Universe Signature Collection Elasti-Girl Action Figure From Mattel

Say what you will about Mattel as a company, but one thing they seem to be doing right with the DC Comics license is their character selection. Outside of things like Minimates, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more diverse character selection than I have with DC Universe Classics. It’s been especially true ever since they’ve started the DC Universe Signature Collection for their Club Infinite Earths online subscription. They’re really trying to give fans the characters they want to complete all the teams they started years prior.

And with the release of Elasti-Girl, fans now have the complete Doom Patrol in their collection (sans Niles “The Chief” Caulder of course [the one shown in the photos is a custom by me]). So let’s take a closer look at the last team member to join the Doom Patrol in DCUC form.

News – Thundercats Officially Cancelled

Thundercats RIPThis is sad news indeed. The show was really good, and I was having fun collecting the toys. But it seems that both the toy lines and the cartoon have officially been cancelled. It’s not incredibly surprising, because Bandai hasn’t shown off anything new in a long time. They had nothing at Toy Fair last February, and nothing at SDCC either. There’s no telling what this means for future Thundercats figures. Will Bandai keep the license, or will it go to someone else? Nobody is sure right now. A lot of fans are hopeful that Bandai Japan will make S.H. Figuarts of the Thundercats, but that may be a pipe dream at best.

For the full story of the Thundercats cancellation, head on over to Toy News International. They have the full scoop.

Review – Robocop with Spring Loaded Holster – Robocop, NECA

NECA Robocop with Spring Loaded Holster Action Figure

NECA has been celebrating Robocop with its action figure line for a little while now. So far we’ve gotten three other versions of Robocop (including an homage to the old Night Fighter Robocop from the 80’s). This one marks the fourth, and I’m sure many fans will argue that this is the way NECA should have done Robocop the first time. By this point we’ve gotten so many versions of the main guy that it has fans telling NECA “Stop. Or there will be trouble”. No doubt, it would be great to get some other characters from the movie, but this version of Robocop is not to be overlooked. This one is like the original release of Robocop, except he has a spring loaded holster in his right leg, to match the movie.

So join me as I take a closer look at NECA’s Robocop with Spring Loaded Holster, and see if “I’d buy that for a dollar!”. I’m sorry, I’ll stop that.

New Custom Action Figure – Commissioner Gordon, DCUC Style

Hey there! This week’s new custom is a 6″ DC Universe Classics style Commissioner Gordon. I’ve felt that he has been long overdo in this line and wanted to fix it. He’s made using parts from the recent DC Universe Signature Collection John Constantine, and some parts from the DC Direct Hush Gordon figure, and of course some painting. Click the photo below to check out the full spread of pictures and a full description. Thanks for looking!
