News – AMC’s ‘Comic Book Men’ Returns For Season Two Sunday, Oct 14th at 11:30 PM
That’s right, the hit series following Kevin Smith and the crew who run Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash will be back October 14th at 11:30 PM on AMC. I’ve seen a rough cut of the season two premiere and I have to say it’s as funny and awesome as the first season. The episode deals with Ming’s idea to sponsor kids birthday parties inside the Secret Stash. As you can imagine with all of Ming’s ideas, hilarity ensues.

Review – Alice – Alice: Madness Returns, Diamond Select Toys
This is a sponsored review. This sample has been provided by BigBadToyStore.
Back in the year 2000, video game designer American McGee released a game simply called “American McGee’s Alice”. The game was his version of a sequel to the Lewis Carroll Alice novels. The story took place not too long after the second Alice novel, “Through the Looking Glass”. In the game, her house is burnt down by an accidental fire, killing her parents, but leaving her alive. This even was so traumatic that she had to be has to be committed to a mental asylum. For years, she is stuck in the asylum, all the while losing her grip on reality more and more. The only thing she has that reminds her of her past life is a stuffed rabbit.
One day, much to Alice’s surprise, the White Rabbit shows up and tells Alice that Wonderland is in trouble and they need her help. Wanting to leave the asylum, Alice gladly goes with the rabbit to help him. However, instead of Wonderland being…well, a place of wonder, it’s now a twisted, demented version of itself. This was a brilliant idea by American McGee, since Wonderland was supposed to be a part of Alice’s imagination, and her mind was now itself, twisted and demented. Many parts of this new Wonderland even have visual aesthetics that link back to an insane asylum, helping drive the notion home that it’s all in her head.
Cut to 2011, and a sequel to the game is released, under the name “Alice: Madness Returns”. In it, Alice tries to cope with being released from the insane asylum, believing herself to be cured. Even so, she keeps getting visions of Wonderland, and seeks help from a psychiatrist. Throughout the game, you shift back and forth through reality and Wonderland, all the while learning of the truth behind the fire that consumed your home and your family many years before.
So in honor of the new game, Diamond Select Toys released a small line of figures based on the “Madness Returns” game. There are two versions of Alice, the Cheshire Cat, and a Card Guard. Today, I’ll be looking at the normal version of Alice. So won’t you step with me through the looking glass (I apologize for that), as I see if this figure is worth your time, or if it should be thrown to the Jabberwock for decimation.

News – Mattel Announces MOTUC Castle Grayskull and Upcoming Figures at Power Con
Today at Power-Con, the Masters of the Universe convention, Mattel made an announcement during their panel about releasing a new Castle Grayskull playset for Masters of the Universe Classics. It will be based on Mark Taylor’s original design (the vintage Castle Grayskull) and cost approximately $200. Mattel will be taking pre-Orders for it in the Fall on MattyCollector.com. A minimum number of pre-orders will be needed to for them to be able to actually go through with releasing it. As it stands right now, they had no resources to produce a 2 UP or prototype. It will just be the front of the castle (a facade) and include the moat as well. The preorder system will have to be based on the promise of there being a Castle Grayskull. This is something brand new and was just approved by management. More details to be revealed at New York Comic-Con next month. Castle Grayskull will not have electronics so they will be able to ship it Internationally as well.
There were also some new figures announced, thanks to an email going out to all MOTUC subscribers. Snake-Face, Karatti (from the New Adventures of He-Man) and Octavia (from the Princess of Power cartoon). There will also be a Masters of the Universe Art show coming to Toy Tokyo in New York City this October. There will be art on display and sale, and the proceeds will go to benefit the Ronald McDonald house.
Huge thanks to Pixel Dan for reporting this, and thanks to He-Man.org for the scoop as well. Make sure to continue after the jump to check out all the images regarding the announcements.
