“His battle with General Zod took a great toll on Superman. He lost his love, Lois Lane, and saw what it would take to truly keep the world safe. After meeting several like-minded super powered beings, he formed the Justice Lords to help survey the Earth and keep it clear of any and all criminal activity. He took off Jor-El’s red and blue uniform, and instead donned one that’s black and white, to match his new view on justice. There are no gray areas with this new Justice Lord Superman.”
I really love the new suit in the upcoming Man of Steel movie, so I got it in my head that it would be cool to try out different design concepts. One of the most popular, and one that I too happen to love, is the Justice Lords costume from the episode “A Better World” from the Justice League cartoon. Since the costume is all black, I used the arms and lower body from the Movie Masters General Zod figure, and the torso, head, and cape from Superman. I repainted the torso flat black, and detailed all the piping on the suit with gloss black to help it stand out. I used thin styrene rods to form a collar around the neck, and for piping on either side of his chest shield to help it line up with the cape. Everything on the suit was painted to match the Justice Lords costume design and mesh it with the Man of Steel suit design. I even repainted his hands and head to make them look more realistic, and make his face look angrier.
I also made an alternate “heat vision blast” head. I drilled through the eyes for sockets, and painted red around them for a heat vision effect. I used Bevmo martini picks for the heat vision blasts, and made two different sets: one long, one short. I used hot glue on the longer set to make it look more like wild, uncontained heat, as if he was just setting the air on fire. The shorter set was made to look more subdued, and has smoke coming off of the ends. I really made this to recreate the scene from that episode of Justice League where Justice Lords Superman lobotomizes Doomsday, but of course it can be used for any number of displays. And then I repainted the stand the Movie Masters Superman figure comes with to match the red and white design of the Justice Lords costume. So now Justice Lords Superman is ready to keep the Earth safe, by any means necessary!
