That’s right, my latest custom takes Bruce Timm’s artwork from Batman the Animated Series and turns it into a fully articulated 6″ action figure. It’s meant to be in style with DC Universe Classics figures, but the head sculpt and paint job are distinctively based on the animated series style. He was given a cell shaded paint job, cartoon accurate head sculpt, and a cartoon accurate grapple gun as well.
Be sure to check out a couple of photos below, and click here to check out the full set of pictures, plus a detailed description on the process behind the custom.
This Animated Batman custom is also currently for sale on eBay for anyone interested. If you know someone who might be, pass the link along.

Batman the Animated Series is considered one of the best cartoons ever made. I’ve been wanting to capture his likeness in action figure form for quite some time, so I finally set out to do it. He’s made using a DCUC Batman Gotham 5 pack body, DCUC Public Enemies Batman head, and the cape from a 6 inch Young Justice Batman.
I modified the head by sculpting onto his ears to make them longer and to make his jaw bigger and more square. I painted him all over giving a cel shaded look, just like the cartoon, even going so far as to match the harsh blue highlights you see on his cape, cowl, boots, and gloves in the cartoon. After the paint job was finished and head was fully painted, I fashioned him a cartoon accurate grapple gun using parts from a DCUC grapple gun and part of a Revoltech stand that I fit over it. Then I took some thin wire and made a rope that can be attached inside the gun, and attached to the grapple on the other end to give off the appearance that he just fired it off. After giving him a batarang from a 6 inch Young Justice Robin figure, Batman was finished and ready to protect the streets of Gotham, with the menacing voice that only Kevin Conroy can provide.
