Mattel just revealed boxed pictures of the upcoming MOTUC Granamyr on their Mattycollector Facebook page. The front of the package displays a new painting by long time Masters of the Universe artist Rudy Obrero. The figure will come painted in “Filmation Red”, as per the fan vote back at SDCC 2011. The back of the package features an all new bio for Granamyr. The figure will be disassembled inside the package, no doubt to make the box as small as possible to save on shipping, hence the lack of window display and the need for the awesome painting on the front. Granamyr will be released this December 17th on Mattycollector.com for $80. Check out the full sized packaged images after the jump!

News – MOTUC Castle Grayskull is Officially Happening!
In case you missed it, Mattel has announced that they have exceeded the minimum number of pre-orders to go forward with the production of their new Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull playset! This is definitely a huge announcement and is sure to be a historic toy. Just so you know, the MOTUC Castle Grayskull is still up for pre-order right now if you’re wanting one.
Continue after the jump for the full announcement.
News – Just Three Days Left to Pre-Order Castle Grayskull!
In case you still haven’t had a chance to yet, you only have three days left to pre-order the Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull playset! This is sure to be the greatest MOTUC item ever produced, and if you’re a Masters of the Universe fan, then you should definitely consider getting this. It costs absolutely no money to pre-order it. You’re charged nothing until next December when it ships, and it will become the coolest centerpiece in your entire MOTUC collection. The deadline for the pre-order minimum is November 12th, so don’t wait! If the minimum isn’t met by then, the castle will not get made at all. And if that wasn’t enough, Mattel is including a free incentive for those who pre-order:
As if the fact it’s Castle Grayskull® isn’t enough, we’re sweetening the offer with a deal even Skeletor® couldn’t resist… if we meet the 11/12/12 minimum production goal date and production moves forward, every pre-order placed between 10/16/12 and 1/3/13 will include a first-ever exclusive Masters of the Universe® Classics cross-sell poster!
Featuring all MOTUC figures released at the time of production and printed in beautiful full-color, this illustrative poster will be consistent in size to the Preternia™ and Sub-ternia™ maps created for Club Eternia® (approximately 30”w x 20”h). You’ll want two of them – one to frame and the other to track your collection! Although some sets will be available at MattyCollector.com after pre-orders are filled, the price will be higher and they will not include this authentic collector must-have poster. The only way to get both Castle Grayskull® and the poster guaranteed is to order during the pre-order period, so don’t wait. (And if you’ve already pre-ordered, yes, you’ll get the poster, too.)
Continue after the jump for more about the playset, and a special message from Scott “Toyguru” Neitlich in regards to Castle Grayskull.

News – Preorder MOTUC Castle Grayskull Today!
If you haven’t already heard, Mattel is trying to get a Masters of the Universe scale Caslte Grayskull made! This is a huge undertaking, and seriously surprising that Mattel could even attempt it. In order to even try to get it made, Mattel needs a minimum amount of preorders. And they don’t have the budget to mock up a prototype beforehand. The only thing fans have to go on are a series of blueprints showing off the scale, dimensions, and play features the castle will have. The only other caveat really, is the price. It’s going to cost $250 + shipping and tax. That is definitely not a small amount of money. This is going to be a very small production run though, just like everything else MOTUC related. And the castle really is going to be huge, so it seems that the cost could be justifiable. At least to me, the price becomes even more justifiable when you consider that Hasbro is re-releasing the deluxe Millennium Falcon from a few years back, this time in vintage style packaging, and it’s going to be sold for $250. And it’s a mass retail release.
At first you may be wary to preorder something that isn’t even made yet, but the best part of this preorder is that you put no money down. The preorder charges your card for exactly $0.00 and when (not if) the Castle goes through, absolutely no money will leave your account until the estimated release date of December 2013. You could put away $25 a month and by this time next year you’ll have more than enough to buy it. If this sounds like something you even want a little bit, I’d recommend going over to Mattycollector.com and preordering it.
Still not convinced? Continue after the jump for the full sized blueprints, a video of a foam mockup showing the scale of the castle, a message from the Four Horsemen, and a ton more detail regarding the castle, to get all the information you need to make an informed decision.

News – Mattel Announces MOTUC Castle Grayskull and Upcoming Figures at Power Con
Today at Power-Con, the Masters of the Universe convention, Mattel made an announcement during their panel about releasing a new Castle Grayskull playset for Masters of the Universe Classics. It will be based on Mark Taylor’s original design (the vintage Castle Grayskull) and cost approximately $200. Mattel will be taking pre-Orders for it in the Fall on MattyCollector.com. A minimum number of pre-orders will be needed to for them to be able to actually go through with releasing it. As it stands right now, they had no resources to produce a 2 UP or prototype. It will just be the front of the castle (a facade) and include the moat as well. The preorder system will have to be based on the promise of there being a Castle Grayskull. This is something brand new and was just approved by management. More details to be revealed at New York Comic-Con next month. Castle Grayskull will not have electronics so they will be able to ship it Internationally as well.
There were also some new figures announced, thanks to an email going out to all MOTUC subscribers. Snake-Face, Karatti (from the New Adventures of He-Man) and Octavia (from the Princess of Power cartoon). There will also be a Masters of the Universe Art show coming to Toy Tokyo in New York City this October. There will be art on display and sale, and the proceeds will go to benefit the Ronald McDonald house.
Huge thanks to Pixel Dan for reporting this, and thanks to He-Man.org for the scoop as well. Make sure to continue after the jump to check out all the images regarding the announcements.
Review – Sorceress – Masters of the Universe Classics, Mattel
SORCERESS
Heroic Guardian of Castle Grayskull™REAL NAME: Teela’na
Growing up in a small Eternian village, Teela’na helped defend her people from a Horde Scout ship that had discovered her planet on a magic locating mission. Recognized for her loyalty, courage and wisdom, the current aging Sorceress® chose Teela’na to take up her title and defend Castle Grayskull’s secrets for the next generation. During her reign as Sorceress®, Teela’na not only cast the spell to clone the Sword of He, she was also cloned herself by Skeletor® who desired a magic-wielding bride to pass on his legacy. With the help of Man-At-Arms®, Teela’na saved the cloned child. And it was through her undying love and devotion to this baby girl that Teela’na gave her up to Man-At-Arms®, awaiting the day when her daughter would become the new Sorceress® and Guardian of Castle Grayskull’s secrets.
The Sorceress is arguably one of the most important characters in Masters of the Universe history. As her bio states, she is the guardian to Castle Grayskull. She was featured in just about every episode of the cartoon, and had a huge role in the MYP 2002 series as well. Fans have been waiting a long time for her, and now that she’s here has she been worth the wait? Keep reading to find out!
Review – Fisto – Masters of the Universe Classics, Mattel
FISTO
Heroic Hand-to-Hand FighterREAL NAME: Malcom
The older brother of Duncan™, Randor’s first Man-At-Arms®, Malcom served under King Miro™ during the Great Unrest but was wounded in battle and stricken with magical amnesia. Wandering through Eternia®, he settled in the Mystic Mountains in a mining settlement, unable to piece together how he lost his battalion. His life changed when the Snake Men™ attacked his town and he helped save the Masters of the Universe® from their trap. But in doing so, Malcom shattered his right hand. In gratitude, Duncan™ replaced it with a robotic strong arm. Now known as Fisto™, he has made up with his brother and fights as a heroic member of the Masters of the Universe® smashing evil with his giant knuckles!
First of all, let me say that I hope I don’t attract the wrong kind of traffic to my site just by having the word “Fisto” on my main page ha ha. With that said, Fisto was one of my most anticipated figures in the line. I don’t know why, I’ve just always loved his design. It’s fairly basic as far as Masters of the Universe characters go, but I just always really dug the body armor and the stern expression, the rugged beard, and of course the giant mechanical fist. Not to mention that thanks to the 2002 MYP cartoon, it’s in canon that Fisto is Man-At-Arms’ brother. Why not, right? They certainly look like they could be brothers. I’m glad the MOTUC bio took the 2002 cartoon’s Fisto storyline as inspiration.
The figure itself also took a lot of inspiration from the 2002 cartoon, but I’ll talk more about that in the actual review. Keep reading to find out my thoughts on Fisto.
Review – Snake Man-At-Arms – Masters of the Universe Classics, Mattel (16 Pictures!)
SNAKE MAN-AT-ARMS
Transformed Master of WeaponsREAL NAME: Duncan of the Viper Clan
Duncan heroically served King Randor throughout their battles with Skeletor and the Snake Men as Eternia’s chief war strategist and weapons maker. Exposed to the Serpent’s Ring, Duncan was magically transformed by King Hssss into a Snake Man permanently. Under this evil spell, he used his genius to create great and horrific machines of war for the Snake Men as they battled for control of eternia. Eventually, Duncan was forced to battle against Clamp Champ who had since replaced hima s Royal Man-At-Arms. In their epic final duel during the Second Ultimate Battleground, Duncan was mortally wounded, but not before momentarily recovering his humanity thanks to a spell cast by his daughter Teela, the new Sorceress of Grayskull.
Welcome to my very first Masters of the Universe Classics review. I hope to get to many more in the future, even past ones (mostly as an excuse to give you guys some pictures to look at). The figure starting off this trend is of course Snake Man-At-Arms. Duncan’s tranformation happened in the MYP (Mike Young Productions) 2002 animated series, towards its end. Mattel used this fan requested variant as an excuse to go all out, giving us a true Masters of the Universe Classics 200X Man-At-Arms, down to the armored detailing on his suit, and the muted paint scheme. To sweeten the pot with collectors, they made Snake Man-At-Arms one of the 3 figures this year to include a new mini-comic. Smart move on their part.
Join me after the jump to find out if this is just another variant, or a well deserved figure in the line. And don’t forget to scroll all the way down to the bottom for a short photo series by me, showing how Duncan met his unfortunate fate as a Snake Man!
Ask Mattel – Answers for May 15th, 2012
Welcome to another edition of Ask Mattel! In this session, Matty gives a surprisingly long thought out answer regarding the SDCC Death statue, gives us a hint at the SDCC Dark Knight Rises exclusive figure, and more! Let’s jump in.
Brandon Gibbs asks: Can you explain why there are no SDCC exclusives in DCUC scale this year and why you instead chose to do a less-articulated 8-inch version of death. As someone who has almost every DCUC figure, I frankly, feel a little insulted that you have nothing for me this year.
Some fans were confused (or Angry) that we didn’t do a 6” DCU (Classics) item at SDCC this year. Honestly, a big part of that was that we now have CIE on Mattycollector.com. In the past, we needed SDCC to put out 6” figures (for the “overall collection”) that didn’t fit into the retail line for one reason or another. Whether this was due to character selection (Lobo) piece count (Plastic Man) or a plus’ d up package with light and sounds (Wonder-Twins), in the past SDCC was our avenue to deliver items that really “didn’t work at retail for one reason or another”.
Now that we have Club Infinite Earths on Mattycollector.com, we can offer all of these executions without having to wait for an annual show. Honestly, fans are in the best position ever for 6”. By supporting the online club (which we know was a “risk” in year 1 with a lot of unknowns at the time we sold the sub) fans are really going to be rewarded. Ideally it will be like getting a DCU 6” SDCC item every month. (no need to toy hunt!) Metron is a great example. How in the world would we have done that at retail? He would have had to be part of a “deluxe” assortment with a Batman and Superman deluxe figure and would have been short packed with many fans unable to find him. He would have been better off at SDCC to do the full chair.
BUT now that we have CIE we can just include him (and other collector only figures) without retail restrains or having to wait for SDCC. With the online club the gloves are off and you will really see some great collector product (pending the sub goes forward in 2013, which I can’t imagine it won’t!).
Because we now have CIE delivering SDCC quality 6″ figures every month, we decided to use SDCC therefore to try out new form factors for fans to collect the DC Universe. This was not a slight to fans at all. you are still getting SDCC quality 6″ figures, and thanks to CIE you will get them every month instead of only once a year!
Victor asks: How about if the MOTUC line include a series of pink variants (and other figures), and proceeds could be donated to Breast Cancer Research? Such variants could include Filmation colors Prince Adam, pink minicomics Sorceress and Teela, and pink SwiftWind.
