Today on the NECA Twitter page, they showed off an image of their upcoming Predator figure painted to look like his classic NES video game sprite. It’s becoming its own niche series with NECA now, repainting their figures to look like their old video game sprites. The latest is their classic video game appearance Robocop on sale now in their eBay store. The Predator will be packed in a box made to look like the old NES Predator game case, just like the other classic video game figures they’ve done. And check out that paint job! Even if it didn’t like to the old video game it still looks fantastic. The Classic Video Game Appearance Predator is set to go on sale sometime this Spring.

“Everyone knows when you’re implanted with an alien egg, your days are numbered. But sometimes the ‘pregnancy’ goes wrong. The hatchling doesn’t end up growing right, and as a result ends up mutating the human host, giving them giant boils and a growth on their back that vaguely resembles an alien egg. This is a result of the hatchling trying, fighting to get out and live until eventually it ends up bursting forth out of the host’s back ready to attack the first living thing it sees!”
Remember the Aliens Arcade Game from 1990? It throws all kinds of crazy things your way, including this guy, the Chestburster Mutant. A human mutant/zombie thing that had the hatchling come out of its back and attack you. Crazy stuff. My goal was to pay homage to the game sprite, but also make it a bit more realistic looking. I took the upper body of a NECA Left 4 Dead Smoker, and the lower body of a NECA Predator Dutch. The giant back growth is an alien egg accessory from an Alien Resurrection Ripley figure, and the chestburster is from an Alien Resurrection Call figure. The egg was attached to the figure, and I cut up the shirt on the Smoker figure to fit over the egg and to look tattered. I sculpted on the head and arms to give him more growths and boils. The chestburster was repainted and can fit in the egg and be removed. It also has a bendable wire installed in it so it can bend forward inside the egg to appear as if it’s lunging at its victim. Then I painted the figure, using dry brushing to bring out the sculpt and trying to bring in elements from the game sprite, with lots of blood spatters randomly all over him. Then I just added some glossy clear coat for that wet, gross look and now the Chestburster Mutant is ready to take down anything in his way!
It’s just been revealed that the NECA Aliens light-up Alien egg with launching facehugger is now available for sale at the NECA eBay store. It’s also being shipped to retailers right now, so if you don’t feel like buying it online then it should be in stores soon. Check your local comic and specialty shops, and Toys R Us to find these.
And check out the video showing off how the NECA Aliens egg works!
The other day a teaser image of the upcoming NECA Arkham Origins 1/4 Scale Batman figure was posted on the NECA Twitter page. It’s expected to be released in early 2014, but NECA always relishes an opportunity to show off teasers of upcoming products to get the fans drooling in anticipation.

NECA just can’t seem to help themselves when it comes to doing classic NES inspired variants of their most iconic characters. First they came out with their SDCC exclusive NES Jason Voorhees, then they just came out with their NES Freddy Krueger, and now NECA has just revealed their all new classic video game 8 bit inspired NES Robocop action figure. Like Freddy and Jason, this new NES Robocop will come in box packaging made to resemble the case the old NES video game came in. NECA even went so far as to include their Reel Toys and NECA logos on the box in the places where, on the original game packaging, it was the Data East and Nintendo logos. The fact that NECA goes that far, to make their logos resemble the old ones is just icing to someone like me who really appreciates good graphics work on packaging.
