NECA loves giving us sneak peeks via Twitter! This time they posted images of the card backs for the NECA Predators series 10 figures. This series will be the Kenner inspired wave, which will have three updates to the classic 90’s Kenner Predator action figures. This wave will feature the Lava Planet Predator, Nightstorm Predator, and Hive Wars Predator. I absolutely love the old 90’s Kenner Predator figures (the Aliens figures too), so I can’t wait to add these to my collection.

NECA has tweeted a photo of the upcoming Predator 2 pack Dutch Vs. Jungle Hunter in packaging to give us an idea of what it will look like on store shelves. This two pack gives us another variant of Dutch, this time with his mud disguise mostly washed off, with some blood on him of course. It also gives us the Jungle Hunter with green blood and battle damage, and a closed mouth head, with a removable face mask.

I recently picked up the NECA Predator 2 Trophy Wall display and it is truly amazing. I haven’t had the time to do a real review, but I couldn’t resist taking this awesome photo and showing it off. I used some gels over my lights to get the red glowing effect that the inside of the Predator ship had at the end of Predator 2. If you’re a fan of the NECA Predator figures, then you need this display piece in your collection. If you’re wary of getting it because you don’t have any of the trophy skulls to adorn your trophy wall, then fret not because NECA has you covered. They have a set of all the trophy skulls in one pack that they’re selling on their eBay store right now. Just click the links below to get a set of the trophy skulls and the trophy wall to really spice up your NECA Predator collection!

It’s been a little while since I last posted a custom. I’ve been hard away actually making them! But to break the fast, here’s my latest project. It’s a set of figures based on the classic arcade game Contra. The two main characters, Bill “Mad Dog” Rizer, and Lance “Scorpion” Bean, reimagined as movie concepts. I asked myself “what if Contra had been turned into a live action movie in the 80’s?”. Of course the only two actors on the planet who could play Mad Dog and Scorpion are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, respectively. Heck, even the cover to the original game was traced over Predator movie stills. It just seemed perfect. Then all the right pieces fell into place, and after I sprinkled some magic customizing fairy dust (I need to be more careful around paint fumes), that was that! I also recreated three of the weapons from the Contra game: The Spread Gun, Machine Gun, and the Laser, using various acrylic rods and beads. They can easily be swapped between guns too.
The Contra Mad Dog and Scorpion custom figures are currently for auction on eBay. If you’d like to own these, please feel free to bid. If you know someone who might be interested, pass the link along.
And be sure to check out the full photo set and write up for how these customs were made by clicking a photo below, or by clicking right here.
Thanks for looking!

What if the classic arcade game Contra had been made into a live action movie back in the 80’s? That was the question I asked myself while tackling this project. Since the original characters were so obviously based on Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone (so much so that the cover to the original game was traced over movie stills from Predator), I decided that none other than the two action stars themselves would play the lead characters, Bill “Mad Dog” Rizer, and Lance “Scorpion” Bean.
They were each made from NECA parts. The bodies are NECA Jungle Encounter Dutch, the head for “Mad Dog” is Dutch, and the head for “Scorpion” is from a NECA Rambo. I had to paint over the blood on Rambo’s forehead, and the camo paint on Dutch’s face and match the flesh tones to the figure bodies. I used parts from the sash of a Hasbro Marvel Legends Elektra for Mad Dog’s headband. Their pants were repainted their respective red and blue to match the game sprites, but done in a realistic camo pattern.
Mad Dog’s gun comes from a Marvel Legends Hope Summers, and Scorpion’s is cobbled together from a NECA Aliens pulse rifle, and some other fodder guns, and both were painted black and then dry brushed with Citadel Mithril Silver. And then finally I gave them their classic weapons: The Spread Gun, Machine Gun, and laser. They were pieced together from clear acrylic rods and beads, and can be swapped between the guns via pegs on the ends of the weapons. And now my movie concept Contra figures are ready to take down the Red Falcon Organization!
Fans have known for some time now that NECA had planned to release a pack of Predator skulls so people could use them to decorate their Predator 2 Trophy Wall, but now they’re finally released! NECA is selling the sets themselves exclusively. You can find them on their Amazon store by CLICKING HERE. The set comes with 10 skulls, and are being sold at a great price. It’s being sold at a limited quantity, so get them while you can! And of course you can’t have the skulls without a place to display them, right? Don’t forget to pick up the Predator 2 Trophy Wall diorama display as well!

NECA’s Predators toy line is extensive, to say the least. They’ve practically made at least one version of every Predator on film, which meant that they had to look elsewhere. Back in 2003, Sandy Collora made a short film titled “Batman: Dead End” as a sort of director’s reel to show off his abilities. The story involved Batman chasing after the Joker, and then being interrupted by a Xenomorph from the Aliens franchise. And then, of course, the Predators show up as well and before you know it it’s just like those old Dark Horse comic books.
One of the predators on screen was the subject of today’s review, the aptly named “Big Red”. He was named so, due to all of his red armor, partly made in a samurai theme, complete with katanas. He was visually interesting and his unique armor set him apart from the others. The crazy thing is, Big Red only ever appeared in that short film. He never appeared in any actual official Predator movie, which makes the fact that NECA made him all the more awesome. I never even thought they legally could make him, but I suppose either they were allowed, or nobody wanted to tell NECA “no”. Either way, smart move.
I love the Predator films, especially the original. However, This is my first NECA Predator figure ever, and I’ll be honest and say that I was initially only wanting it, because I’m predictable and such a Batman geek that anything connected to him at all I MUST OWN. So join me as I take a closer look at Big Red and see if he’s worthy of a spot in your collection.

NECA recently added new images for their upcoming Predators Series 8 Major Dutch Schaefer action figure. Included in the images is an unpainted test shot to whet the appetites of Predator fans. Series 8 includes two different versions: Jungle Extraction Dutch and Jungle Patrol Dutch. Look for series 8 in February. These are sure to be big sellers, since this marks the first time a human character from the Predator movies has been made into action figure form by NECA.
Jungle Extraction Dutch is faithful to his appearance as they first enter the jungle, complete with military shirt and vest, features over 20 points of articulation, an M-16, Pistol, Machete, and Knife accessories. Jungle Patrol Dutch is immortalized in his camo muscle shirt and vest and features over 20 points of articulation, an M-16, Pistol, and Knife accessories.
