In case you missed it, here’s the first sneak peek we got for the Star Wars the Black Series wave 2 Greedo action figure. Entertainment Earth has now posted the second sneak peek of the figure, giving us a glimpse at the level of detail that has gone into making the figure a reality, and to ensure it’s as movie accurate as possible.
Entertainment Earth has revealed a sneak peek into a 6″ Greedo figure, coming in the second wave of Star Wars the Black Series figure from Hasbro. They’ll be revealing more sneak peeks into the figure in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout. No other new characters have been announced for Star Wars the Black Series, but you can bet I’ll post it here when they are.
USA Today got the exclusive for this, so thanks to them for breaking the story. We now have a fantastic look at the fully revealed 2013 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Star Wars the Black Series Boba Fett with Han Solo in carbonite. It will be sold at the Hasbro booth at San Diego Comic Con from July 18th to 21st, and it will cost $44.99. Yeah, I know, that’s a pretty big price for a 6″ figure, even with all the accessories he comes with, and considering the retail figures will only cost about $20.
And speaking of, now is a good time to point out that Boba Fett himself is not the exclusive. Before fans get up in arms, there will be a retail version of Boba Fett released in the 6″ scale in The Black Series. The part that makes this set unique and exclusive is that picking him up at 2013 San Diego Comic-Con is the only way to get Han Solo in carbonite. I know what you’re gonna say “that still sucks!”, and I completely agree. But I’m sure he’ll be available after the show on Hasbro Toy Shop, but who knows how easy it will be to get him. Anyway, I digress.
Yesterday I posted about a rumor floating around regarding a line of 6″ Star Wars figures Hasbro was planning. Thankfully the internet Gods saw fit not to make me look like an idiot, and today it was revealed officially by Hasbro in an article on USAToday that they are indeed planning a line of 6″ Star Wars action figures called Star Wars Black Series. The line is set to have very detailed sculpts, and loads of articulation, close to the amount packed into current Marvel Legends from the looks of it.
Continue after the jump for some info regarding the figures, and shots of the first action figure in the line revealed thus far, X-Wing Fighter Pilot Luke Skywalker! Continue reading →
In a turn of events that’s sent a large portion of the internet into full rage mode, Cartoon Network has cancelled the incredibly popular Young Justice and Green Lantern cartoons. In a press release sent out today, they announced their new and returning shows for the 2013-2014 season. Among the shows not listed were the aforementioned shows, along with Star Wars: The Clone Wars which is transferring to Disney XD after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm.
Last year, fans got the bad news that Thundercats was cancelled when Cartoon Network released a similar press release with that show missing from it’s 2012-2013 season, so this does seem pretty official. Also damning is Green Lantern showrunner Giancarlo Volpe announcing on Twitter that Green Lantern was indeed cancelled and the show would finish out the current season.
Almost immediately after the announcements, a petition was put online to help save the show. Now, online petitions in general don’t seem to really get anywhere, but who knows what might come of it? Young Justice is insanely popular and is considered one of the best cartoons on television right now.
The website Rebelscum is reporting a rumor that Hasbro is working with Gentle Giant to create a line of highly detailed, super articulated line of 6″ action figures based on Star Wars. Hasbro and Gentle Giant already work together on the the Marvel Legends line, but every time Hasbro has been asked in the past about the possibility of a 6″ Star Wars line they’ve said they have no plans.

Today I’ve got not one, not two, but 4 new custom action figures! I got them done quickly so I wanted to share them together. First up, we have Darth Knight 2.0. If you remember my first Darth Knight custom, it was pretty popular. I’ve updated the detailing on it, and added a couple of new custom accessories as well! Next, we have a 25th Anniversary style G.I. Joe Dial Tone. He’s a recreation of the G.I. Joe Club exclusive Dial Tone figure that is so hard to come by now. I figured out which parts were used, and got a cast head, backpack, and gun from my friend Alyosha over at Broken Arrow Toys, and painted it up! Then, there’s my custom 3 3/4″ Daniel Craig James Bond. He was made from the body of a Rise of Cobra James McCullen, and the head from a Golden Compass figure. And last up, we have Rene Belloq, from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. This figure is a 3 3/4″ as well, meant to fit in with the other Hasbro figures. They never made a figure of Belloq in his white suit, so I took a Jazwares A-Team Face figure, painted it up, and gave him the head from a Rise of Cobra James McCullen with painted hair, and the fedora from an Indiana Jones.

Recently, I felt like updating my Darth Knight figure design. The recipe is the same as before. I used the body from a Movie Masters Dark Knight Batman, and the head, chest plate, belt pieces, and light saber from a Transformers Crossovers Darth Vader figure. The ears were sculpted on, and then painted over. The silver detailing is much crisper this time, and the skirting is also cleaner. This time, I wanted to give him a couple of new accessories, so I took one of the wings from the Darth Vader Transformers figure (he turned into a Tie Fighter) and turned it into a shield he can hold in either hand. I also took some clear styrene and cut it in the shape of a Batarang, and painted it with clear red and flat black over that. My thinking was the black parts would be the framework, and the clear red would be light saber energy flowing throughout, so that it could cut through anything. With that, Darth Knight 2.0 was finished.
I know, I already listed him once, but the buyer was unresponsive and then decided to back out, so I figured instead of going through a long and arduous process with eBay that ultimately wouldn’t get them to pay anyway, I just decided to relist it.
So if you thought about bidding before, then here’s your chance.
