Hey everyone! For this week’s new custom action figure, I have two for you: Dean Winchester, and Castiel the Fallen Angel from the television show Supernatural. Castiel is a custom I meant to post a while back, but completely forgot about it! So I decided to go ahead and post him with Dean. Both were made made to be completely accurate to the show. With Dean Winchester, the head actually came from a shrunken down mold of a custom sculpted 1/6 scale Dean head. I also made both of the Colt pistols from the show for Dean. Click each picture below to go to the full photo set for each custom. Also, don’t forget to check out the short Youtube vidoes I made for Dean Winchester and Castiel. It’s something I plan to do more of, showcasing my work on Youtube as well. Thanks for taking a look!

Dean Winchester is one half of the demon hunting brotherly duo, The Winchesters. I was tasked to recreate Dean Winchester in action figure form. He’s made using a custom sculpted 1/6 scale head that’s been molded and shrunken down to a 6″ scale, the body of a Diamond Select Toys Buffy the Vampire Slayer Deluxe Spike figure, and the coat from a DST Angel Season 4 Wesley figure. I gave the coat a new lapel, matching Dean’s from the show. Everything was painted to accuracy, including the stubble on his face. I also decided to go ahead and include some extras. I made both versions of the Colt pistol used in the show. The modern one was a repainted gun from my fodder bin. The older one was a modified fodder gun that I repainted, including the pentogram in the grip. With his buddy Castiel, Dean Winchester is ready to bust some demon heads.

Castiel is the resident fallen angel of the Supernatural world. Companion and friend to the Winchester brothers, he’s gotten them out of a lot of hot spots (sometimes literally!). Castiel here is made using a DST Deluxe Destiny Angel body, head from an Angel Season 4 Wesley, wings from a DCUC Hawkman, and the coat from a Mezco Spirit. The coat was on a 7″ scale and was originally too big for the 6″ body, but after some clever tailoring in the back, I secured it to the figure and sculpted over to blend it in, then attached the wings. I got the tie from a DC Signature Collection John Constantine. Everything was painted in the appropriate colors. It was fun dry brushing the coat. And now Castiel is ready to face the hordes of hell with his demon hunting companions. After all, he’s always happy to bleed for the Winchesters.

The character of Ian Glover comes from the Webcomic of the same name by Jayfri Hashim. He asked me to create a custom figure of his title character, and I was more than happy to oblige. The series is described by the creator as:
“A webcomic Based on a freelance vampire hunter, Ian Glover, and his Father John Glover, as they work hand in hand with the Vigilante Vatican Force to save mankind from extinction.”
After that, I was very excited to get to work. I made Ian Glover using the body of a Young Justice Superboy, and the jacket and arms, funnily enough, from a DCUC Superboy. I just cracked open both of their torsos and gave YJ Superboy the new arms. Then, I painted the entire figure in the correct red and black color scheme. I gave him his cross straps that go over his chest, made from Mr. Sinister cape straps. They hold the scabbards on his back. Those are made from polystyrene, and his swords are come from the new 2012 TMNT Leonardo figure. I resculpted the grips so when they were holstered, the swords blended into the scabbards. Then I painted those, gave Superboy some sunglasses from my fodder bin, and Ian Glover was ready to hunt down some vampires!
