Reports have been coming in from all over the United States that people are finding Masters of the Universe Classics and Mattel Ghostbusters figures at Big Lots locations. I know a lot of people are having trouble finding the figures, so I thought I’d offer up just a few tips that might help you on your Big Lots quest.

It’s been a little while since I last posted a custom. I’ve been hard away actually making them! But to break the fast, here’s my latest project. It’s a set of figures based on the classic arcade game Contra. The two main characters, Bill “Mad Dog” Rizer, and Lance “Scorpion” Bean, reimagined as movie concepts. I asked myself “what if Contra had been turned into a live action movie in the 80’s?”. Of course the only two actors on the planet who could play Mad Dog and Scorpion are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, respectively. Heck, even the cover to the original game was traced over Predator movie stills. It just seemed perfect. Then all the right pieces fell into place, and after I sprinkled some magic customizing fairy dust (I need to be more careful around paint fumes), that was that! I also recreated three of the weapons from the Contra game: The Spread Gun, Machine Gun, and the Laser, using various acrylic rods and beads. They can easily be swapped between guns too.
The Contra Mad Dog and Scorpion custom figures are currently for auction on eBay. If you’d like to own these, please feel free to bid. If you know someone who might be interested, pass the link along.

During 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, Mattel revealed plans for a 6″ scaled Ghostbusters Ecto-1 car, and showed off their offerings for their 2014 Mattycollector subscriptions for Masters of the Universe Classics, and DC Universe Signature Collection, or Club Infinite Earths. Now that SDCC is over, Scott “Toyguru” Neitlich has posted some updates about the Ecto-1 and the subscriptions, and voices some concerns, as well as tries to dispel some rumors about how the subscriptions are handled.

A picture was posted of the NECA Aliens Hudson Vs. Xenomorph Warrior 2 pack on the NECA Facebook page. It shows off the blister layout of the packaging, how the figures will be displayed inside the blister. In this 2 pack, Hudson comes with a new head sculpt and helmet, pulse rifle, shoulder mounted flood light, and motion tracker. The Xenomorph Warrior is battle damaged, with sculpted green corrosive blood spurts shooting from the body. All in all, a very awesome looking set.

So it seems fans were right yesterday about the teaser image Hot Toys posted when they thought it was of a figure of Eric Draven from The Crow. Hot Toys has now fully revealed their upcoming The Crow Eric Draven 1/6 scale collectible figure. The figure looks like it comes with a great assortment of accessories, not to mention a fantastic outfit and a really good likeness to Brandon Lee.

Hot Toys posted a teaser on their Facebook page of an upcoming figure, but it’s cloaked in mystery. They haven’t revealed what the figure is, but most fans seem to be speculating that it’s a figure of The Crow, as portrayed by the late Brandon Lee from the 1994 movie of the same name. I certainly hope so, because that would be amazing!

Fans have been sporadically checking Amazon for the Man of Steel Movie Masters figures, specifically the ones from series two, such as Faora, which are hard to find in many areas. All four figures from TMNT Classics series 1, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello based on the original cartoon series, have been restocked at Amazon. They’re all about retail price, and eligible for free shipping, so you if you buy all four then shipping will be absolutely free! I hope this helps you all fill out, or even start, your TMNT Classics collection. Look for series 2, featuring Bebop and Rocksteady, to be out this Fall.
