New Custom Figures – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014 Movie Accurate)

I managed to get these finished just in time for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out this week. After being underwhelmed by the official Playmates figures, I decided to take them and fully repaint them, including adding every little character detail to them that I could. I even repainted their weapons, adding chains to Mikey’s. I had to go through a ton of movie images and trailer stills, but I’m pretty confident I got them to be fully movie accurate. This set is also currently for auction on eBay for anyone who might be interested in owning them. Click the picture below to check out the full gallery (there are a ton of photos) and detailed description on how I made the Ninja Turtles fully movie accurate. COWABUNGA!

I’m pretty psyched for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, but the official Playmates figures leave a lot to be desired. So I decided to fix them in order to bring the movie designs to life in action figure form. I studied several images and trailer stills in order to get down every detail. Each figure has been fully repainted from head to toe. I gave them spots on their skin, Japanese Kanji on their bandanas and shells, and realistic shading, highlights, and weathering. For Leonardo I used the head from the Combat Warrior figure (the one where you squeeze the legs to make the arms swing), because it’s actually smaller than the basic figure’s head (which is too big), and it sits better on the figure. I also added the NYC button on his weapon strap. For Michelangelo, I added the shades hanging around his necklace, and the tattoo on his left bicep. On Raphael I carved the scar over his lip, painted the tattoo on his right bicep, and gave him some shades that fit on his forehead. For Donatello, I used the head from the Combat Warrior figure as well, because the sculpt of the head gear was much more detailed, and looked a lot better. I made his glasses out of craft wire, with sewing thread for the tape and painted them to look like tortoiseshell frames. I also used sewing thread for the electrical wiring to connect pieces of his equipment, including the iPads on the back of his belt. Of course I also went through and gave all their weapons realistic repaints as well, adding real chain to Mikey’s. And now that the Ninja Turtles actually look like they do from the movie, they’re ready to take down Shredder and the entire Foot Clan. COWABUNGA!

News – New 2013 TMNT Figures Including Baxter Stockman & Snakeweed

Playmates TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nickelodeon 2013 Basic Figure Baxter StockmanIn usual fashion, when Playmates does something they go big. And the new TMNT figures are no exception. Playmates will be releasing a ton of new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products based on the hit new Nickelodeon animated series coming out by late January to early February of 2013.

First up there’s going to be a new wave of the basic 5″ scaled figures, including two new additions to the villain ranks.

  • Baxter Stockman
  • Snakeweed

Next up, we have some new variants of the Turtles, dubbed “Mutagen Ooze Turtles”. I’m not sure if these will be basic figures, or a separate series like the larger Turtles out now with the kick and punch SFX action features. Initial reports seem to say so, but judging from the play features, I’m not so sure. I do know that these figures have canister packs that you will be able to fill with Ooze (sold separately) and then launch the Ooze from catapult arms on their packs. And it may just be me, but these guys are looking very Ghostbusters like, which I can totally get down with. Back in the day they mixed TMNT with just about everything, so why not Ghostbusters? I can’t wait.

ALSO… for those of you who are into the new Playmates line of TMNT Classic figures, though there aren’t any figures specifically to announce, according to Toy News International, they were told that plans for a second wave are being looked at and that Playmates should hopefully have something to show us all in February during the New York Toy Fair. So definitely keep an eye out for pics and info regarding that!
