I always wanted Mattel to make a proper Ra’s Al Ghul Batman Begins figure, but since that never happened, here I bring you Ra’s Al Ghul in full League of Shadows ninja gear! Ra’s al Ghul was made using a Star Wars the Black Series Episode 3 Obi-Wan Kenobi, the head from a Movie Masters Ra’s Al Ghul, and the forearms from a Movie Masters Batman Begins Batman. I fused the Batman Begins forearms to the Obi-Wan arms, and used Aves Apoxie Sculpt to blend and fill in the gaps. I also added plating to the back of the hands (including the rivets!) with styrene. The lower cloak was replaced with fabric. The belt is made using two strips of styrene, with the belt buckle being fodder that happened to be perfectly movie accurate. Everything was repainted several shades of dark brown to match the movie, with the gauntlets dry brushed lightly for a metallic look. The head was also completely repainted, and I even sculpted in to cover that weird open mouth gap he had before. One katana later and League of Shadows Ra’s Al Ghul is ready to take down Batman and do all that is necessary to cleanse the world of corruption!

The Flash TV series is an underrated gem. Yes, it’s corny in a very early 90’s way, but the writing is solid and the acting is pretty good. The pilot might as well be a made for TV movie about the Flash. So. I wanted to capture the essence of the Flash from the show in action figure form. I felt the Marvel Legends Bucky Cap figure was the best fit, since it was detailed with lots of muscules that looked very similar to the suit John Wesley Shipp wore on the show. I had to really sand down those giant pirate boots to look right. Then, I used a combination of styrene and Aves Apoxie Sculpt to give him the suit detailing, such as the emblem on his chest, and the detailing around his forearms and waist. I sculpted a bit on the head as well to look more like the Flash’s cowl in the series, and used the ear pieces from a DCUC Flash figure as well. The paint job involved base coating in black and dry brushing three different shades of red to make it look as realistic as possible and bring out the sculpt. And after that, the Scarlett Speedster is ready to protect the people of Central City!
Ghostbusters fans were more than a bit surprised to find out at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con that Mattel was planning a Movie Masters 6″ scaled Ecto-1 car to go with their 6″ Movie Masters Ghostbusters action figures. The thing is, Mattel needs a minimum number of pre-orders in order for it to go through, and all fans have to go on right now is a mockup and some promises from Mattel that it will be amazing. That, and the hefty $215 price tag have naturally caused many fans to be hesitant, to the point that the pre-orders are very low right now, especially since the deadline is August 19th. In order to answer fans’ questions and hopefully alleviate fears and encourage people to pre-order, Scott Neitlich, AKA “Toyguru” posted on the Mattycollector Facebook page. In it, they talk about how there is absolutely no charge whatsoever to pre-order, among other things.

It’s been rumored for a while now, ever since a mysterious listing showed up on Amazon describing a Man of Steel Movie Masters Superman figure in a black suit. Recently though, Mattel has denied there was an eighth Man of Steel Movie Masters figure in the last Ask Mattel Q&A session, making this reveal all the more bizarre. But yes, it seems official that there will be a Superman figure released in his black suit. The listing showed up on the Mattel Shop website as a pre order due out in July.

Hey everyone! I had so much fun customizing that last Man of Steel Superman figure, I thought I’d try out something different. So I took a Movie Masters Man of Steel Superman and painted him in Justice Lords colors. I even repainted his head to look more realistic and angry, and gave him an alternate “heat vision blast” head. And I made two different sets of heat vision, one long and more wild looking, the other shorter with smoke coming off of the ends, to recreate the scene from the episode of Justice League where Justice Lords Superman lobotomizes Doomsday! Click here or the photo below to check out the full photo set and a detailed description of how it was made.
This custom is also currently for auction on eBay right now. If you’re interested, feel free to bid. If you know someone who might be, pass the link along!
Thanks for looking!
Today continues the week of 2013 San Diego Comic-Con reveals from Mattel. Today’s reveal is for the highly anticipated upcoming movie Man of Steel. It’s a 2 pack featuring Superman and Zod in the Movie Masters scale, but in classic Mattel tradition, it’s not just the figures that make this set special, but the box has a lot of great features as well!

MTV Geek got a great scoop today, as they got to reveal the upcoming Man of Steel Movie Masters Faora action figure. Earlier I showed you the other Movie Masters figures revealed so far for Man of Steel. Well now here’s Faora. Faora (played by Antje Traue), in the movie, is Zod’s partner and maybe more. She seems to be similar to Ursa from the Superman 2 movie. She’s Kryptonian and knows how to handle herself in a fight. Just look at that armor!
