Randy Falk from NECA Toys has been saying all through the 2014 New York Toy Fair that there would be a huge announcement. Well the announcement has dropped today, and it is indeed huge. It’s been leaked through the PR News Wire that NECA finally got the likeness rights of Sigourney Weaver to make Ripley figures from the Aliens movies! There are going to be multiple versions made, but there are no prototypes to show off yet. They are expected to be at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con along with the deluxe Alien Queen.

Hey everyone. Regardless of what you may think of the Robocop reboot coming out to theaters today, there’s no denying that it’s bringing a lot of deserved attention back to the original film. It’s one of my absolute all time favorite movies, and I wanted to celebrate Robocop Week here on Mint Condition Customs the best way I know how: by making a custom figure of course! So here I present Night Fighter Robocop! I’ve gone through and taken the NECA Night Fighter Robocop, and modified it to look much more like the vintage Night Fighter Robocop from the Robocop and the Ultra Police toy line by Kenner, complete with an interchangeable minigun arm! And just because this is Robocop Week doesn’t mean I won’t do more Robocop customs in the future. I love that NECA saw fit to release an homage to the vintage Night Fighter Robocop from the Robocop and the Ultra Police toy line from Kenner. Still, I found it a tad disappointing that, most likely due to budgetary reasons, they couldn’t fully make him resemble the original figure. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, and with the release of the new Robocop movie this week, I figured it was time. I went through and painted all the metallic blue highlights on the figure, as well as painting the face up, and painting the visor red. Using some fodder, I fashioned a futuristic looking minigun and attached it to his arm. I also made it detachable, so it can still be interchanged with his other two hands (Auto-9 pistol holding hand, and the data spike hand). And of course the figure still glows in the dark, fully rounding out the homage to the vintage Night Fighter Robocop. Because only in the 80’s did “Night Fighter” mean “glowing bright green”. So now Robocop is ready to bust up some creeps in the dead of night. I’d buy that for a dollar!
Yesterday we lost a member of the NECA family. Craig Windrix, brother of NECA sculptor Kyle Windrix lost his battle to cancer. Many of you might have already known about this situation, and knew that NECA immortalized Craig as an action figure, with his own likeness put onto a Colonial Marine for their Aliens toy line. It’s one of those things that proves just how amazing NECA is. Craig will surely be remembered by his loved ones, and thanks to NECA we can all have Craig on our toy shelves living on and continuing to fight. If you have your own photo of the Aliens Sgt. NECA has shown off some new pics from their upcoming Pacific Rim series 3 figures, and they are bigger and badder. We’re getting Kaiju Trespasser (the very first Kaiju we see in the film, whose head is later displayed in a museum in a brief shot), and an all new Kaiju Knifehead. This one is battle damaged, and is in a larger scale. According to NECA, going forward the Kaiju will be in this larger scale so they look more accurate compared to the Jaegers. There should be much more to see later this month at the New York Toy Fair.
A couple of days ago, NECA was nice enough to show off a behind the scenes work in progress photo of the upcoming Alien 35th Anniversary Dallas action figure on their Twitter page for what they’re calling “Facehugger Friday”. For those who don’t know, Dallas was the captain USCC Nostromo. There’s no head sculpt yet, but we get a great look at the body, which will be the astronaut space suit. This is a great idea from NECA, since it allows them to reuse the body mold and just paint it accordingly for each character. We should be getting a better look at this and more at Toy Fair later this month.
