New Custom – Red Hood, Jason Todd

Yeah, I’m certainly not the first one to tackle this, but I really got the inspiration to do this recently and just had to give it a shot. So here I bring you Jason Todd as the Red Hood. Check out the official page for this custom to see the full photo set and a detailed description of how it was made. Also, Red Hood is up for auction on eBay right now. Thanks for taking a look, and stay mint!*

*I’m trying out a new sign off. What do you think? …I’ll let myself out.

I dub this Batman Week here at Mint Condition Customs, and to celebrate it I bring you not, not two, but three new customs! This week I have a new custom Deadshot figure, based on his appearance in the Gotham Knight animated feature, a custom Arkham Asylum Joker figure that I added lots of new articulation too, and an Arkham Origins style Deathstroke, complete with unmasked Slade Wilson head! Be sure to click the links to see the full photo sets and descriptions for how each custom was made. Thanks for looking!

Custom Figure – It’s 80’s Cartoon Villain Week with The Shredder & Mumm-Ra!

Yep, you read the title right. I’m dubbing this week 80’s Cartoon Villain Week here at Mint Condition Customs, as I’m bringing you all custom figures of The Shredder (the constant thorn in the side of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Mumm-Ra the Ever Living (the evil undead menace to the Thundercats). The Shredder is based on his look in the current Nickelodeon cartoon series. I had to combine the parts from both of the current Shredder figures to make him fully poseable, since neither one has great articulation on its own. He was also given a full repaint to help bring out the details and make his armor shiny!

Mumm-Ra was something I started a long time ago, but only recently finished once the idea of this week’s theme dawned on me. I took the Thundercats Classics Mumm-Ra figure and installed some wiring in his big hollow torso and gave him light up eyes! With just the flip of a switch on his back Mumm-Ra’s eyes glow an eerie red, as if summoning the ANCIENT SPIRITS OF EVIL! He was also given some poseable bandages, handmade cape accurate to the cartoon, and a full repaint to look more realistic. Be sure to click the links below to see the full photo sets and descriptions for how each custom was made.

New Custom Figure – The Flash TV Series Style

The Flash TV series is an underrated gem. Yes, it’s corny in a very early 90’s way, but the writing is solid and the acting is pretty good. The pilot might as well be a made for TV movie about the Flash. So. I wanted to capture the essence of the Flash from the show in action figure form. Hopefully I’ve done John Wesley Shipp’s version of the Flash justice. Make sure to click the picture below to check out the full photo set and a detailed description of how I made this custom of the Flash from the TV series. Thanks for looking!

New Custom Figure – Eye-Lash, Evil Mistress of Torture, Original Masters of the Universe Classics Figure

Hey everyone! To continue in the Halloween spirit, for my latest custom I bring you Eye-Lash! The cycloptic femme fatale, the evil mistress of torture for the Evil Horde! This idea was brought to me by Masters of the Universe fan Joe Martin. He had entered this into the 2012 Masters of the Universe Classics Create-A-Character contest. Sadly it didn’t win, so he sought me out to realize his idea in custom figure form. And let me say, I’m glad he did, because this was a fun one. The Evil Horde is easily my favorite faction of MOTU lore, due to the fact that most of the members are based on classic movie and literary monsters. Eye-Lash here is no different. She’s a cyclops for crying out loud! She’s covered in creepy eyes all over her outfit, she’s got a crazy looking “cat eye nine tails” whip, and she’s plenty evil to boot. She definitely fits in with the Evil Horde. Be sure to click the photo below to check out the full photo set and description for my custom Eye-Lash. You can also read a full character bio written up by her creator, Mr. Joe Martin himself.

New Custom Figures – Kenner Inspired Sgt. Apone and Bull Alien!

Hey everyone. I have some new customs for you, just in time for the Halloween season. So, do you remember the old Kenner Aliens toy line from the early 90’s? I know I do. It’s one of my favorite toy lines, although I’m biased since Aliens is one of my favorite movies so of course a toy line based on it will catch my interest. At any rate, I was recently hit with inspiration to recreate the old Kenner Aliens figures, but in a more modern, realistic style that blends in with the new NECA figures. To kick things off, I started with two of my favorite figures from that line, Sgt. Apone and the Bull Alien. I’m thinking of releasing them two at a time, each time being one Colonial Marine and one Xenomorph to go with it. This is the start of what’s going to be a new line of custom figures from me, recreating pretty much the entire Kenner Aliens line. Be sure to click the links below below to view the corresponding page for the entire photo set and a detailed description of the process I went through to make each custom.

New Custom Figure – Contra Mad Dog and Scorpion Movie Concepts!

It’s been a little while since I last posted a custom. I’ve been hard away actually making them! But to break the fast, here’s my latest project. It’s a set of figures based on the classic arcade game Contra. The two main characters, Bill “Mad Dog” Rizer, and Lance “Scorpion” Bean, reimagined as movie concepts. I asked myself “what if Contra had been turned into a live action movie in the 80’s?”. Of course the only two actors on the planet who could play Mad Dog and Scorpion are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, respectively. Heck, even the cover to the original game was traced over Predator movie stills. It just seemed perfect. Then all the right pieces fell into place, and after I sprinkled some magic customizing fairy dust (I need to be more careful around paint fumes), that was that! I also recreated three of the weapons from the Contra game: The Spread Gun, Machine Gun, and the Laser, using various acrylic rods and beads. They can easily be swapped between guns too.

The Contra Mad Dog and Scorpion custom figures are currently for auction on eBay. If you’d like to own these, please feel free to bid. If you know someone who might be interested, pass the link along.

New Custom Figure – Justice Lords Superman (Man of Steel Movie Concept)

Hey everyone! I had so much fun customizing that last Man of Steel Superman figure, I thought I’d try out something different. So I took a Movie Masters Man of Steel Superman and painted him in Justice Lords colors. I even repainted his head to look more realistic and angry, and gave him an alternate “heat vision blast” head. And I made two different sets of heat vision, one long and more wild looking, the other shorter with smoke coming off of the ends, to recreate the scene from the episode of Justice League where Justice Lords Superman lobotomizes Doomsday! Click here or the photo below to check out the full photo set and a detailed description of how it was made.

This custom is also currently for auction on eBay right now. If you’re interested, feel free to bid. If you know someone who might be, pass the link along!

New Custom Action Figure – Man of Steel Movie Masters Repaint with Heat Vision Blast

Hey guys! I know it’s been a while since I posted a new custom here. I promise I’ve been working on a lot of new stuff, I just space and forget to post anything, I get so caught up in the actual customizing. Anyway, I wanted to share my latest custom with you. I took the newly released Superman Man of Steel movie masters figure and gave him a classic style repaint, with very vibrant colors and even gave him his trunks back! I also sculpted a spit curl on him, made it so the figure could look up, and gave him a bunch of accessories like kryptonite rocks and even some heat vision blast attachments! Be sure to click here, or on one of the photos below to view the entire photo set and read the full description to see just how this custom got made.

New Custom Figure – Super Posable Eddie Brock Venom

Hey everybody! I know it’s been a while since I posted a new custom. Been busy working on them! Anyway, today I bring you a new Venom custom. I took the new Marvel Select Venom figure and modded the heck out of it. Fully repainted, with clean, crisp detailing, and updated articulation. Before, he wasn’t very posable. Now, he’s super posable, thanks to my dremel, and some splicing I did with another Venom action figure.

Venom here is also currently on eBay. If you’re interested, you can bid on it, or if you know someone who might be, pass the link along!
