Guide to Fixing TMNT Classics 1990 Movie Figure Shoulder Joints

I’ve been hearing a lot of people complain about the ridiculously tight shoulders on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classics 1990 movie figures. And they are too tight. So tight that trying to move them stresses the peg in the bicep, which could lead to tearing. The video guide below will show you how to loosen up the shoulder joints to a proper resistance on your TMNT Classics 1990 Movie figures. The same method can be used on many other action figures with similar shoulder joints as well. The only tool you need for this is an X-Acto knife, or similar hobby knife. Alright, let’s get started!

New Custom Figures – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014 Movie Accurate)

I managed to get these finished just in time for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming out this week. After being underwhelmed by the official Playmates figures, I decided to take them and fully repaint them, including adding every little character detail to them that I could. I even repainted their weapons, adding chains to Mikey’s. I had to go through a ton of movie images and trailer stills, but I’m pretty confident I got them to be fully movie accurate. This set is also currently for auction on eBay for anyone who might be interested in owning them. Click the picture below to check out the full gallery (there are a ton of photos) and detailed description on how I made the Ninja Turtles fully movie accurate. COWABUNGA!

With all the recent news for the new TMNT movie, I felt inspired. I know it’s goofy, but I still love the Super Shredder from the end of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Secret of the Ooze, and just had to make him in figure form. I used the body from an LCBH Wrarrl, feet from a Toy Biz LOTR figure, cape from a DCSH Bizarro, and pieces from the original Movie Star Super Shredder figure. The whole body was painted the appropriate purple, and then I attached the cape. Then, I attached the Super Shredder belt under the Wrarrl belt to give the appearance of one big belt, and attached all the other Super Shredder pieces as well, with some dremeling of course. Everything was painted up, including the mace from the original Super Shredder figure. I finished it up with a custom movie style canister of TGRI mutagen ooze, and now the Super Shredder is ready to DINE ON TURTLE SOUP!

Check out the official page of the Super Shredder custom for the full photo set and a detailed description of how it was made. Custom Figure – It’s 80’s Cartoon Villain Week with The Shredder & Mumm-Ra!

Yep, you read the title right. I’m dubbing this week 80’s Cartoon Villain Week here at Mint Condition Customs, as I’m bringing you all custom figures of The Shredder (the constant thorn in the side of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Mumm-Ra the Ever Living (the evil undead menace to the Thundercats). The Shredder is based on his look in the current Nickelodeon cartoon series. I had to combine the parts from both of the current Shredder figures to make him fully poseable, since neither one has great articulation on its own. He was also given a full repaint to help bring out the details and make his armor shiny!

Mumm-Ra was something I started a long time ago, but only recently finished once the idea of this week’s theme dawned on me. I took the Thundercats Classics Mumm-Ra figure and installed some wiring in his big hollow torso and gave him light up eyes! With just the flip of a switch on his back Mumm-Ra’s eyes glow an eerie red, as if summoning the ANCIENT SPIRITS OF EVIL! He was also given some poseable bandages, handmade cape accurate to the cartoon, and a full repaint to look more realistic. Be sure to click the links below to see the full photo sets and descriptions for how each custom was made.

News – TMNT Classics Series 3 1990 Movie Leonardo Hi-Res Images

Playmates gave us a brief look at this figure last week during San Diego Comic-Con on a blurry slide, but now Playmates Toys has sent out hi-res images for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classics Series 3 1990 Movie Leonardo figure. According to Playmates, all the figures in TMNT Classics Series 3 will be the four turtles based on their appearances in the live action 1990 movie. And let me tell you, I can not wait to get them. You can buy the first series of TMNT Classics right now on Amazon, and they’re eligible for free shipping!

News – TMNT Classics Bebop and Rocksteady Figures Coming From Playmates

For fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classics figures that started last year, there’s some great news. Two new figures are officially on the way, Bebop and Rocksteady! Playmates updated their website with the two characters, both in silhouette, with the words “COMING SOON!” over them. A lot of people assumed they’d be in the next lineup, and it looks as if that assumption is correct.

Of course with these two characters on the way, there’s a good chance we’ll get the big guy himself, Shredder! How awesome would that be to get all three in the same series? It will be interesting to see how tall they are. Considering the four turtles themselves are exactly at 6″, Bebop and Rocksteady would have to be at least 8″ to be in proper scale. Hopefully we’ll see prototypes of these guys (and maybe more) in February during Toy Fair 2013. I definitely can’t wait to see what Playmates has up their sleeves!

News – New 2013 TMNT Figures Including Baxter Stockman & Snakeweed

Playmates TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nickelodeon 2013 Basic Figure Baxter StockmanIn usual fashion, when Playmates does something they go big. And the new TMNT figures are no exception. Playmates will be releasing a ton of new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products based on the hit new Nickelodeon animated series coming out by late January to early February of 2013.

First up there’s going to be a new wave of the basic 5″ scaled figures, including two new additions to the villain ranks.

  • Baxter Stockman
  • Snakeweed

Next up, we have some new variants of the Turtles, dubbed “Mutagen Ooze Turtles”. I’m not sure if these will be basic figures, or a separate series like the larger Turtles out now with the kick and punch SFX action features. Initial reports seem to say so, but judging from the play features, I’m not so sure. I do know that these figures have canister packs that you will be able to fill with Ooze (sold separately) and then launch the Ooze from catapult arms on their packs. And it may just be me, but these guys are looking very Ghostbusters like, which I can totally get down with. Back in the day they mixed TMNT with just about everything, so why not Ghostbusters? I can’t wait.

ALSO… for those of you who are into the new Playmates line of TMNT Classic figures, though there aren’t any figures specifically to announce, according to Toy News International, they were told that plans for a second wave are being looked at and that Playmates should hopefully have something to show us all in February during the New York Toy Fair. So definitely keep an eye out for pics and info regarding that!
